I love myself-self awareness

I love myself is a reflection of "I am self-aware and accept myself". I was in school when this word aroused curiosity in me. Initially, I was only fascinated by the charm which surrounds "self-awareness". I never realised how deep it could connect with self. It was only when I started writingI introspected my thoughts and actions. My self-exploration, with time, became more profound.
I could actually evaluate whether my emotions were true or influenced by peer group. This consciousness helped me to rediscover my capabilities and be more responsive to events of life.

What is self-awareness?

It is listening to our self, self-questioning who we are, what we do, why we do?
It is observing own thoughts, actions, behaviour and become conscious of what should we do?

Steps to cultivate self-awareness

Writing a diary:  Pen down your day to day actions, emotions, beliefs,thoughts-negative or positive, what we want in life, connect with yourself, process your thoughts in writing.  Even you will be surprised to read what you have written. This habit reflects a mirror image of ourselves where we have a clear picture of who we are?

Be honest to yourselfWriting is a vital component in sketching an honest outline of our personality.  If we are true to ourselves, we can set honest goals for ourselves and work efficiently to achieve them.  On the other hand, bluffing our instincts shakes our self-belief. Hence be truthful and candid to yourself.

Believe in yourself:  Everything we focus affects our life. We should follow our heart. We are our Santa. For this, we have to be observant of our thoughts, develop a vision and then sharpen our skills. It can be achieved through trial and error method or experiential learning.

Be optimistic:  If you believe that good things will happen to you, the good vibes will direct you to positive action. This invokes healthier behaviour patterns but it has to be actively practised in daily life. Byrne, the author of "The secret" says that once she was in total despair but when she started believing herself, good things started happening and miracles happened in her life.

There is constant communication between mind and body. Every word we utter signals mind accordingly and these positive mantras work magic.

Be adventurous:  Be willing to take risks, adopt new methods, experience excitement in any sports of your like or music or any other activity which interests you and sharpens your mind, encourages your spirit and blossoms your heart.

Be fit:  It has been found in the research of Health journal Neuropsychologia that even 10 minutes of exercise acts as a catalyst for the brain. It increases blood flow in the brain which boosts the working capacity of the brain. It is really helpful in mentally challenging tasks where ten minutes of exercise can lead to better performance. Practices like meditation, pranayama, deep breathing, walking, eating healthy help us find inner balance and reduce stress levels.

Be motivated: Nobody can teach you to trick your mind. Whenever you feel low read biographies, watch motivational documentaries, get inspiration from nature and surroundings around you.  Be your own stimulant and coach your mind to derive inspiration from what interests you.

I love myself-self awareness

Self-awareness, from the perspective of psychology, is a rich and complicated subject.  As human beings, we may never fully understand ourselves but we can discover and rediscover our self to make our living worthy and fruitful.

Self-awareness

An invisible intruder in the fragile hive
being nourished with feeds of life
reared in the inner conch
breaking the silence of this quietude monk

giving vent to a thousand  emotions
paving way for glorious sensations
will these blessings not embrace
mine uncaptured little place

blossom in fullest measure
to wrap my soul in pleasure
digging a passage through the seed of my desires,
making an affirmation of best comrade.

An invisible intruder is self-awareness and the fragile hive is a soul
So promise yourself from today that I will heal my mind and body. I will reboot my life because  I love myself.
Please leave a comment below to share your vision of self-awareness.

What is the role of theatre in school education? | Theatre for children

A big bang.....what was it? sound from a theatre for children..... when I entered the auditorium, a musical performance was underway on the song of Justin Timberlake "can't stop the feeling". Another epic performance was ongoing in a hall attached to the auditorium. In the courtyard, Street theatre(nukkar Natak) was in progress on child labour which instantly made me recall the acclaimed movie "Stanley ka Dabba."Action, movement and excitement were unstoppable. Variety of costumes, masks, make up artists, sound engineers added to the liveliness of the environment. I stood in a corner recalling how during childhood even small roles in school plays and dance dramas would always keep us electrified to spare no efforts in rehearsals. The theatre is not arrested in time. Originating from Greece, it has stood the test of time and come a long way to the improvisational theatre to the novel concept of online theatre. It was on World theatre day,27 March, I ha

How can I counsel my child?

In dictionary language "counselling" is advice by an expert about a particular problem. During some of the other phase of life, there is a time when kids need counselling and parents often consult specialists to handle the situation. The question arises Can parents counsel their child themselves?/"How can I counsel my child?"  Are we competent enough to deal with the issues bothering our child?  Though we may not be expert in each and every matter we are the first teachers of our child and who knows our child more than we do. We as parents can be the first counsellors. Nevertheless, counsellors are highly trained  people  and well equipped with updated techniques but as parents, we can give first try to counsel our child unless the situation is alarming . How can I counsel my child?  How can I counsel my child ?   The phrase "my child" is significant because it is difficult to counsel our kids as they are familiar to us. They may be hesitant to open

Experiential learning in schools

Experiential Learning in schools is freehand learning experience through self doing and active participation. It involves learning through creative arts, music, organised games, playful methods, going to field trips etc. This kind of self-exploration is nothing but self-discovery and self-awareness for children.  The trial and error method develops logical thinking and aims at continuous improvement in eye-hand coordination and observation skills. The children are assigned such tasks in school which are outside traditional classroom settings.    Experiential learning in schools  The process  involves the following steps: Mentors asking kids how to do a particular task or how to improve upon the tasks already done. This wakes up the thought process of children. They build their own concepts and strategy and implement them to the task in hand. In such learning, the kids experience both success and failure alike because the challenges are immense. They think aloud if trapp
